Downtown Development Authority

About the DDA

The Springport Downtown Development Authority has been established in accordance with Michigan Act, 197, 1975. The basic purpose of this Authority is to correct and prevent deterioration in business districts, to encourage historic preservation, to authorize the acquisition and disposal of interests in real and personal property, to authorize the creation and implementation of development plans in the district to promote the economic growth of the district, to authorize the collection of taxes, to authorize the issuance of bonds and other evidences of indebtedness, and to authorize the use of tax increment financing to accomplish the foregoing.
